GPS is a dynamic degree management tool. Unlike the static audits in WebSIS, GPS allows for forward-looking planning. It doesn’t just show what a student has done; it shows what they plan to do.

Not exactly. Think of GPS as your navigation system and WebSIS as your official record of registration. Students will still use WebSIS to register for classes each term. GPS can be used to map out a 4-year plan, check progress towards degree requirements, and play with “What-If” scenarios. 

GPS syncs with MIT’s student information system (MITSIS/WebSIS) nightly. While new grades or registration changes might take 24 hours to reflect, any planning changes made by the student within GPS happen in real-time.

Some departments are still working on setting up their audits. If you think something looks off, don’t panic! Reach out to your departmental advisor or departmental administrator. They’ll help make sure everything transfers into GPS correctly.

As soon as the Registrar processes your external credit and it appears on your transcript in WebSIS, it will sync to GPS (usually within 24 hours). It will then automatically “slot” into the appropriate requirement. If you aren’t seeing your credit in GPS, it likely means we don’t have record of it yet, or it hasn’t synced to GPS.
