The First Generation and/or Low-income (FLI) program supports the ~30% of undergraduate students who identify with the first generation and/or low-income student experience.
Engaging students before they step on campus through their walk across stage to accept their diploma, FLI works with students every step of the way. FLI provides holistic advising and programming grounded in four pillars of student success:
- Academics
- Community
- Professional development
- Advocacy
Fostering relationships across the Institute, FLI engages faculty, staff, alumni, and the gFLI graduate student community, to create a network of support around shared identities and experiences. Through this network, we enhance the academic success, professional growth, and personal development of first generation and/or low-income students at MIT.
Any MIT undergraduate student who feels their life experiences align with one or more of the FLI identities is welcome to engage with our programming. If you would like to stay up-to date with our programming and resources, sign up for our newsletter below!
