What is an Associate Advisor?

Associate Advisors are upper-level MIT students in a volunteer leadership position who provide academic support and resources to a group of first-year students.

The Undergraduate Advising Center (UAC) matches associate advisors with an UAC or a faculty advisor in a traditional, seminar-based group or a learning community. Associate advisors compliment the advisor’s efforts by providing the student perspective on MIT academics and student life. Associate advisors are highly visible on campus and and serve as role models and support first-year initiatives including programming in their residential communities.
